First off, I’ll admit: I’m not a die-hard Ed Sheeran fan, and I don’t know much about music in general. This review is more of an exercise in trying to articulate some thoughts about an album that caught my attention, just a bit of fun. It’s my first time giving this a go, so please, no hate from the “Sheerios ?”

First impressions were, "Oh, I know this one 😊" and "He's got a genuine voice and singable lyrics." Though what I discovered was the songs that he invited guests to honour his musical youth, were certainly the ones I listened to hardest. "Sing" & "Runaway", produced by Pharrell Williams, will for sure stand the test of time.

actually saying that... listening to it again on my laptop as i write this, it may not...

perhaps the vinyl on my Technica / Yamaha amp have naturally enhanced the wonder in the production, even through 30 year-old Mordaunt-Short speakers, thanks Richer Sounds #ExperianceBetter👍 sale now on!

Then there is "Don't", the stand-out tune for me on the album. It's got a late 90s American RnB swing to it, produced by a benny blanco, a recognisable name and a Rick Rubin one not so. Special shout out for "BloodStream" co-produced by Rudimental, a tune which they go even further to bass for themselves. Perhaps its his alter ego collaborating these tunes out, because I think its "Thinking out loud" which, you would of heard of even if you didn't know it was Ed, he wants to be remembered for a proper "nicely nice tune" go far as a ballad ?

"The Man" nice beat but I’m thinking is he really rappin this guy? is he playing homage to The Streets Mike Skinner? sorry Mike, as i seek reassurance which The Billboard provide, perhaps one to many comparisons, hence the boxing club call out?

And "photograph" a slow burner, so that’s over half the album well worth a listen to in its entirety, purchase a 2014 second hand vinyl version here.
