Only a Gary Can Save Us

Gary Lineker will always be a national geezer, no matter what ill he may bestow this world or the next, only decimal points can impact his wholeness. Ever since his first goal in that deciding group game of the 1986 World Cup (FIFA) to all generations, young and old who that summer experienced the prolonged hype of yo-yos and stickers, instant gloom of Robson and Wilkins, he will always bring a reminder of that relief, joy and cheer. I'm pretty sure though the determination that made him cross that halfway line that hot summer day in Mexico and drag England into a career-defining and memorable run not only for this Nation, its Commonwealth but for the rest of the world too, speaks to the lazy majority of us.

A righteousness which would take him and represent us in the Kingdom of Spain, Imperial Japan and more importantly to the studios of MOTD. Where under the stewardship and shoulders of past Masters Des & Jimmy and our Capo. Mr Hansen he began to speak for us, the many, the illiterate armchair football fan.
